Karsten Mangels I love creating teams where people are able to work effectively, have fun, and at the same time are empowered to go beyond what they already know, experiencing learning at its best. Biography Karsten has a unique point of view about GLG. His first experience was as a client, when he was the North American general manager for an international auto parts organization. Working with GLG, he and his company accomplished their corporate goal of doubling sales in a declining market in the course of one year. His experience as a client was so significant that he decided to leave the executive life and become a consultant, bringing the quality of the work he experienced as a client of GLG to other corporations. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from FGV, a university in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He started his professional career at Caterpillar Brazil as an engineer, where he quickly realized that his passion was in developing relationships, not engines! This led him to sales related jobs and eventually to managing industrial and commercial operations. Karsten has extensive international experience, being Brazilian with a German background. He has lived in North America, Europe and South America, and also traveled the world during a sabbatical year he took in 1994. He is fluent in Portuguese and English, with very good knowledge of German and Spanish. He loves the outdoors and sports, and is an experienced sailor who has participated in long-range regattas. He lives with his wife in a tropical forest close to Sao Paulo, Brazil. |
