Client Testimonial

As I prepare to retire, I have been reflecting on the elements that have contributed in material ways to the outcomes that I have tried to create, both at the operating group level and more recently at the enterprise level. Naturally, many things go into the "contributions" bucket, as general management and leadership are complex endeavors. However, thinking through some common themes, I keep coming back to people and process as very big contributors.

So often, many leaders focus on the desired result, the goals and the direction, without a full understanding of what it will take to move an organization, or create an organization, or build a team that is capable of sustained success. It would not be possible to overstate the role that the GLG team has played here in helping our leaders (and this leader!) to articulate and achieve their vision.

In my experience in turning around a $2B operating group as well as in the creation of a Corporate Development function across the entire organization, it would not have been possible to achieve these results without what the GLG team brought to the Leadership equation. From the big picture of what it will take at an organizational level to the coaching of teams and even key individual staff members, GLG is there at every step and always keeping the end goals in mind. Your team become true partners and so much a part of the organization that your influence is seamless and sustained long after you move on to another assignment. As I see it, GLG truly creates lasting value, both in the business results and in the individuals themselves. We are always more successful at what we endeavor to accomplish for having your team working with us and …later… as we reflect on how we have individually evolved, we realize that we are just better… period.

A very big difference is that the team feels a sense of clear individual and group accountability and a sense of inculcated culture that enables the strategy. They are far better equipped to set their own direction and build on what was created. Without GLG, I do not believe we would have achieved this in as material a manner or possibly at all.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the members of GLG for the dedication you bring every day and for all you have done to help make me - and my entire team - better leaders.

—President, New Business Ventures Group, at a Fortune 50 Company

The Batelle Story
Battelle Recently, Rich Rosen was invited to speak at an internal, international leadership conference organized by a client of GLG's for over 200 of their managers and executives. The opportunity for Rich to present at the conference arose because a research group at GLG's client company has been working with Battelle for a couple of years on product innovation. The title of Rich's presentation was, "True Confessions of an Innovation Company."

The Zooth Integration Story
Zooth As part of their initiative to expand their business, Gillette Oral Care embarked on two acquisitions in 2004, making this the first time the Oral Care business employed this strategy for growth. One of the acquisitions was Zooth, a maker of kid's licensed toothbrushes and toothpaste. Oral-B has a line of children's brushes called Stages, which is aimed at mothers who wanted the best oral health care for their children. Zooth is designed to appeal to the kids themselves, using colorful and current licenses to motivate kids to brush by making it "healthy fun." By combining the two businesses, Gillette would have access to Zooth's expertise in managing licenses, their speed to market, and their unique sculpted designs that give their brushes "toy-like appeal."
